Rhaeadr Ddu Waterfalls
Overview
This is a wonderful location to call in when passing. It is a great short waterside walk taking you alongside the turbulent Afon Gamlan and through gnarly oak trees, to the magnificent Rhaeadr Ddu (Black Falls in Engish) waterfalls. They look different every time you visit, depending on rainfall, weather and light.
My preferred composition for the main falls if on the higher ground just to the right, marked A on the route map below, as you approach the footbridge. But as with all these things, you may want to find your own compositions.
But this location has much more to it than just the Rhaeadr Ddu falls. All the way along the river there are stunning small waterfalls and compositions, so make time to explore the river on your way up to the main falls or on you way back down. It is very easy to spend four hours in this location and then wonder where the time went.
Conditions wise; it is best to visit just after a period of heavy rain. The river is then running high and the waterfalls come to life with a real demonstration of water power!

Leave the car park, turn left and cross the road. Take the road up the hill just after the Village Hall. Continue up this road and follow the river on your left. When the road bends to the right into a farm, take the foot path straight on and follow the path until you get to the footbridge over the river. On you right will be the waterfalls.
