Since getting over COVID two weeks ago, it has been a slow recovery and I am still not 100% fit – but getting there. This has meant it has been very hard to get out for my photography, but with the encouragement of a friend, we took a trip to Holme Fell in the Lake District to see how the heather was showing. I must admit the walk up onto the fell, left me panting for breath; so fitness score is currently 4/10 !
But the pain was worth it. The heather must have been at the peak of its bloom; everywhere were brushes of stunning purples and mauves. The conditions were excellent with good cloud structure and clear to the west allowing direct sunlight to flood in across the fell. With no wind, the only sound was from the millions of bees taking advantage of the heather.
Even with all the wonderful heather and lovely conditions, I did find it hard to make images. I seemed to spend too long recovering my breath which impacted any creativity I had. But it is a start being back out.
Below is my favourite image from the day..
